The planned annual capacity of the chemical
terminal for total processing of chemicals is up to 1 million tons per year.
A brief description of the location
The terminal is located at Kesk Street 2A, 40231
Sillamae, Estonia.
Border railway crossing: Ivangorod-Narva.
• The location of the terminal and the adjacent plots is ideal
for establishing a transshipment base due to the proximity to the border between
Estonia and Russia and between the European Union and Russia (at a distance of
approximately 25 kilometres).
• The opportunity exists for conducting port operations in the
industrial territory of the free economic zone occupying 600 hectares in the
vicinity of the town of Sillamäe (a population of approximately 20,000 people).
• The availability of a railway connection to the main railway
line between Tallinn and St. Petersburg.
• The availability of a road connection with the main highway
between Tallinn and St. Petersburg.
• The conditions for ship entry are excellent: deep-water piers.
• The terminal is situated at a safe distance from the
residential, social and recreational zones of the town of Sillamäe and the
surrounding area.
• Ice situation favours port operations (the harbourage is non-freezing).
• No alternative exists, no better location is available for a multi-purpose
chemical terminal in the northeastern region of Estonia, close to the EU-Russian
border.
In view of the natural characteristics of the port location (depth and position)
and its proximity to the border (25 kilometres), facilitating low rates of
railway tariffs and considerably reducing the risk of their increase in the
future, it can be concluded that the location is indeed favourable to the
maximum extent and, accordingly, the terminal of TANKCHEM AS will enjoy a high
competitive edge.
